Kazakhstan launches Open Corporate Challenge Kamaz (OCC) Contest for Solving the Technological Problems of the Industry

The Open Corporate Challenge (OCC) Kamaz competition was launched in Kazakhstan to solve technological problems of the industry, organized by Astana Business Campus (ABC) in cooperation with the VIST Group (part of GK Tsifra), Kamaz and IEEE. According to the results of the competition, selected teams will be able to develop prototypes based on ABC, get valuable recommendations for improving their projects from experienced experts, win cash prizes or a subscription to NU FabLab, and summer internship with the interesting project in one of the organizing companies.

To participate in the competition, experts will select the best teams that will be able to present their projects, improve them under the supervision of experts, develop prototypes based on the Astana Business Campus and, subsequently, win cash prizes or a subscription to NU FabLab. In addition to the three winners, two more teams will have the opportunity to work during the summer period with the project of a robotic vehicle based on KAMAZ NEO. The project will create a car capable of moving independently, as well as using computer vision to recognize objects - people, animals, road barriers and independently recalculate the route, taking into account obstacle avoidance. At the moment, specialists of Nazarbayev University and VIST Group are working on the project..

The total prize fund of the competition is 500 000 tenge.

Engineers, developers, inventors and innovators of various age categories, ranging from students to large enterprises, can take part in the competition.

The competition is held to find the most effective solution for the challenges faced by a large company, to develop the engineering skills of Kazakhstani youth, which include: project thinking, figurative and spatial thinking, design and modeling, presentation skills and project protection.

During the competition, it will be necessary to solve three challenges:

1. Development of a model of the device for the protection and cleaning of LIDAR - vehicle sensor;

2. Development of the design and prototype of the information output and subsystem control panel (dashboard & control panel);

3. Development of the design and interface for editing static trajectories.

The best projects will be selected according to five key criteria: presentation, competences / CV, team, cost of the solution / estimate and innovativeness of the solution.

Applications for participation in the competition are accepted online on the Astana Business Campus official website until 23:59, March 26, 2019. Pre-selection will take place from March 27 to April 18. The final of the competition is scheduled for April 19, 2019.
